Having trouble reserving an item in the UMRL catalogue?

The following tips might help you to solve the problem:

1. Do you have a pin number for accessing your information? Your default PIN is your date of birth. If you have any trouble logging-in please call at any UMRL branch and to have your record updated.
   
2. Doyou have the latest version of your brower software (e.g. Internet Explorer) loaded on your PC? Older version may not have the necessary features for some functions in our catalogue.
   
3. Some sites are inaccessible if you have a firewall installed on your PC (Windows XP has a fiewall). Windows XP Firewall settings are located in network settings and you could add the address of the site you are trying to access as 'trusted site' but be careful which sites you add. You do not have to change your firewall settings to access the new UMRL catalogue.
   
4. If you are using Windows XP with service Pack 2 loaded, it may be blocking pop-ups. Many sites use pop-ups for searches etc. A message will be diplayed (probably near the top) which tells you that pop-ups are blocked. You can turn pop-ups on (either temporarily or permanently) by right clicking on the bar etc. The new URML catalogue does not use pop-ups.

Having trouble viewing a file that ends with .pdf?

If you are trying to download a file in .pdf format you will need a recent version of Adobe Acrobat reader. Available free from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html

Having trouble viewing a file that ends with .doc?

If you are downloading a document in .doc format you will need a recent copy of Word or Office (which includes word). If you have an older version and the file was created in a newer version it may not display correctly, or at all.
