Cartoon Drawing Workshops with Mark Harris
General Information
Mark Harris is a writer, illustrator and animator who is available to run workshops for your organisation.
His sessions have subjects ranging from basic drawing principles, engaging directly with student's drawings, to lectures on storyboards and basic storyline structures for both children's books and animation.

Classes are aimed at students aged 7 years and older and are suitable for a class size of 8 to 10 students.
Session length
We recommend that sessions run for a minimum of 90 minutes for students to get the full benefit from the workshop
Equipment
Tables, chairs, pencils, white A4 paper and a computer with a reasonable screen size (please notify if not available)
About the Sessions
Session 1 - Drawing basics
Introducing basic drawing concepts
Followed by standard character designing protocols
Set students on task to create thier own basic cartoon characters
On completion of task the lecturer will then work individually with each student, offering tips and encouragement
Session 2 - Storyboarding & scripting basics
Introduction to a simple story graph
Students create thier own storyline
Students design thier own story characters
On completion lecturer will then work individually with each student, offering tips and encouragement
Session 3 - Gesture drawing & animation

Introduction including a review of drawing tips and techniques

Hand drawing

Introduction to animation and some basic principles
Students will create thier own 8-10 page flip book
On completion lecturer will then work individually with each student, offering tips and encouragement
